Ever feel like everything in your closet is old and you've worn it a hundred times and you just don't have time to get out there and go shopping just yet? If not...can I be you? Most of us have a closet full of clothes we've had forever. Maybe it's time to shed some light on the far reaches of your closet and make the old new again.
I have had this basic dress forever. It's REALLY plain but I liked the color which is why I bought it 15 years ago. I happened to get some cool shoes on line this summer and now we're off to the races!
ADD A STATEMENT PIECE
I suggest a belt - specifically a Pocket Belt because this dress (and most dresses have no pockets. So if you're going to add a statement piece why not make a useful conversation starting one with big value and big impact? If old clothes can be made new again with a statement piece like this, imagine what it can do for new clothes ; )

ADD SOME FUN JEWELRY AND SHOES
Jewelry , especially big fun pieces, can be a clever way to scream "I'VE NEVER WORN THIS BEFORE!" Earrings, necklaces and bracelets can have a nice impact and dress-up or caj-down the weariest of simple looks. SHOES!! I'll say it again....SHOES!!! They change the whole look of an outfit and can take it from season to season too.
ADD A SCARF
Without sounding like my grandmother, scarves actually DO change the whole look of an outfit. These days you can find just about any size, color, fabric or shape in any season without much hunting but I'm guessing you have a few in the very back of your closet. Go ahead... dust those off and throw them on. You might be surprisingly pleased. And don't be afford to repurpose an old pashmina as a blanket scarf. They can be really elegant especially if the folds are not fighting with your purse strap (because smart you opted for the Pocket Belt instead!)
You got this - take some chances!
